SaloneNest LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users — landlords, tenants, traders, buyers, and visitors — across West Africa and for diaspora users accessing the platform from abroad. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using SaloneNest LLC, you agree to the practices described here.

1. About the Platform

SaloneNest LLC is a home and marketplace platform focused on West Africa. The app allows users to buy, sell, and rent homes and land; trade goods and services through the Marketplace (Public Square); share community posts; and manage tenancy relationships. The platform is navigated through five bottom tabs: Home, Real Estate, Post, Market, and Profile. Diaspora users outside West Africa may access the platform to search, enquire, and book West African properties and amenities remotely.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated by your use of the platform:

• Account information — full name, username, email address, phone number, country, account type (Seller Hub or User Account)
• Authentication data — hashed password and PIN (never stored in plaintext), security question answers, session tokens
• Property and listing data — property addresses, descriptions, photos, prices, availability, and amenity details posted on the Real Estate tab
• Lease and tenancy records — lease start/end dates, rent payment history, security deposits, maintenance requests
• Financial data — payment records, invoice history, transaction references (no raw card numbers stored)
• Identity verification documents — government-issued ID and facial verification selfie submitted during KYC; encrypted before storage
• Marketplace data — trader listings, product or service adverts, and purchase records posted on the Market tab
• Community posts — text, images, and updates shared via the Post tab (Community Post option)
• Messages — in-app messages between users (landlords and tenants, buyers and sellers)
• Device and locale data — device timezone used for geo-detection to determine whether you are in West Africa or the diaspora; IP address, browser type, session timestamps for security and fraud prevention
• Subscription data — your current plan (Seller Hub or User Account), renewal dates, and entitlements

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your SaloneNest LLC account and role (Seller Hub or User Account)
• To facilitate property listings, tenancy agreements, lease management, and rent payments
• To operate the Marketplace (Public Square) for traders and buyers across West Africa
• To display and distribute community posts shared via the Post tab
• To provide the EJay AI assistant with your current tab context so it can give relevant help
• To detect your geographic region via device timezone and show the appropriate experience (West Africa resident or diaspora user)
• To process and record financial transactions including rent, deposits, and marketplace payments
• To conduct identity verification (KYC) for trusted trader badges and financial transactions
• To send service notifications including rent reminders, maintenance updates, and platform alerts
• To detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and platform abuse
• To comply with applicable laws in West African countries and in the United States
• To improve the platform through anonymised and aggregated analytics

4. How We Store and Protect Your Data

• Passwords and PINs — hashed using cryptographic functions; never stored or transmitted in plaintext
• Identity documents — encrypted with AES-256-GCM before cloud storage; encryption keys are never stored alongside documents
• Session tokens — HMAC-signed, expire automatically, stored in your device's local storage
• Data hosting — hosted on Vercel infrastructure with TLS encryption in transit and at rest
• Access controls — role-based access; only authorised operators and compliance-designated personnel can access sensitive records
• Audit logs — all significant actions are logged in an immutable audit trail

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

• Platform participants — listing information shared with potential tenants/buyers; lease data shared only between a landlord and their assigned tenants
• Payment processors — PayPal, mobile money providers, and bank transfer services receive the minimal data required to complete transactions
• Regulatory authorities — when required by law or court order in applicable jurisdictions (USA, West African countries)
• Infrastructure providers — Vercel (hosting and storage) under data processing agreements
• Fraud and compliance screening services — limited data for identity and sanctions screening

6. Geo-Detection and Regional Access

SaloneNest uses your device's timezone (via Intl.DateTimeFormat) to determine whether you are located in a West African country or are a diaspora user accessing from abroad. No GPS location data is collected. This detection is used only to show the appropriate in-app banner and to tailor the experience — it does not restrict access to listings or features.

7. Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 5 years after closure
• Lease and financial records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by applicable recordkeeping regulations
• Identity documents are retained for the period required by KYC/AML obligations in the relevant jurisdiction
• Marketplace listings, community posts, and messages are retained while your account is active; deleted on account closure unless subject to a dispute
• You may request deletion of non-regulatory data by contacting us below

8. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your account and non-regulatory personal data
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities
• Receive a portable copy of your data

9. Cookies and Local Storage

SaloneNest LLC uses browser local storage to maintain your session state and preferences across visits. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used. Clearing your browser's local storage will sign you out of the platform.

10. Children's Privacy

SaloneNest LLC is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover a minor has created an account, that account will be closed and data deleted promptly. See our Child Safety Policy for full details.

11. Cross-Border Data Processing

Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States where our hosting infrastructure operates. We apply appropriate safeguards for any international data transfers consistent with applicable privacy laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by in-app notification. Continued use of SaloneNest LLC after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
